Pelvic Floor PT & the 4th Trimester

This time period is considered the 12 weeks after giving birth. The 4th Trimester is such a vital time in the birthing person’s postpartum journey, and care during this time can set the stage for long-term health and well-being. Pelvic Health Physical Therapists are here for you during the 4th Trimester! We have a ton of training and education + passion for helping you recover and thrive after having a baby.

I often get the question: “how soon after having my baby can I see a pelvic PT?” and the answer is really anytime! I usually encourage my patients to book a couple early postpartum visits at 3 weeks and 6 weeks (to go over things like posture, light strengthening, sleeping/feeding positions, optimizing bowel movements, breathing techniques, pelvic floor activation, etc), and ongoing for as many months out as is needed. I have many patients who want to get back to running or weightlifting, or heal from back pain, pubic pain, etc and will usually see them for more visits. Just depends on you and your needs!
