Nourishing the Soul

This past weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to explore Bayfield, Wisconsin with a couple friends of mine (one of which who is also pelvic health PT!) We stayed at the Wild Rice Retreat, which is a retreat center with lodging just outside of town, offering daily yoga classes, guided walks, art classes, a sauna, and farm-to-table meals. This was exactly the weekend that I needed to take a step back from business, work, and PT, to truly sit and reflect on what I often preach to my patients: take time for yourself to fill up your cup and nourish your soul/body/mind.

We hiked in the woods and over sea caves, ate the best food, and softened our bodies and minds with gentle and restorative yoga. We took the time to truly slow down and listen to the sounds of the water, see the incredible fall colors, and connect with each other through rich conversation. This is exactly what I call “nourishing the soul".” One of my goals this fall season and moving into the winter is to find something each day (even something small!) to fill my cup and nourish my soul so that I can continue to show up for my patients and my business in the most present way. I encourage you to make it YOUR goal to participate in a small active self-love and self-nourishment each day to fill up your cup.

My top 5 Favorite Soul Nourishing Activities:

  1. Take a walk in nature. Slow down to look at the colors and listen to the sounds around you.

  2. Slowly sip on your favorite warm tea.

  3. Listen to a short guided meditation.

  4. Move through a guided gentle or restorative yoga practice (YouTube has some great options!)

  5. Reconnect with a good friend with uplifting & positive conversation.
